Collins Aerospace, a unit of Raytheon Technologies, has been awarded a five-year, $103.5 million contract to produce and service multifunction display avionics for the U.S. Army’s UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters.

The avionics suite produced by Collins for the UH-60 provides increased situational awareness for pilots, according to the company. The UH-60M is the latest variant in the Black Hawk family of helicopters, which originally entered service in the late 70s. It is used for a variety of missions, from troop and medical transport to armed escorts, Army Technology reports.

According to the Army, work locations and project funding will be determined with each order. Two of Collins’ six business units, Avionics and Mission Systems, are based in Cedar Rapids. The Avionics unit designs and manufactures a wide variety of cockpit electronics such as displays, navigation systems and flight controls.
