What was your first job? Bussing tables at a local restaurant.
Best advice you ever received? When I was 20, a supervisor told me to smile more. At the time of receiving this advice, I thought I needed to be serious to be successful. When the supervisor said smile more, they were saying, be yourself. After receiving this advice, I decided to always be authentic, making this the best advice I have ever received.Â
What do you consider your biggest break so far? My husband and daughter support all of my ideas and ambitions. Having them in my life to support and encourage me is my biggest break.
What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I started my career as a chef.Â
What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? The workforce shortage is and will continue to be the biggest issue facing the Corridor.Â
If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? The Cedar Rapids Salvation Army, Horizons, United Way and more.
What are your passions outside of the workplace? The Business & Leadership Book Club is a group of local leaders that come together to talk about leadership. I love spending time with family, pets and friends. I enjoy learning. I am also passionate about cooking.
What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? We are all different. Do not make assumptions based on age. Get to know the person.
What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? Earning my doctorate degree in Strategic Leadership and writing my first business and leadership book.
