Popoli Ristorante & Sullivan’s Bar in Cedar Rapids will close in May

Popoli Ristorante & Sullivan’s Bar in Cedar Rapids will cease operations on May 8, according to a post made on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
“On May 8th Popoli Ristorante & Sullivan’s Bar will discontinue Operations,” the post states. “We wish to thank all of our loyal customers, employees, suppliers and service providers for their support throughout the years.”
Gift cards to the restaurant and bar will be honored until May 8, according to the post.
The venue, which began as the historic People’s Savings Bank in 1912 at 101 3rd Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, will be repurposed from a daily restaurant venue to an event center. According to the post, it will be operated by Peppercorn Food Company beginning on June 1. The building was named to the Preservation Iowa’s Most Endangered Properties list in 2012.
Popoli Ristorante & Sullivan’s Bar opened in 2014 and featured high-end Italian cuisine on its menu.
