Bike to Work Week activities planned May 15-19 in CR

In celebration of National Bike Month, residents are invited to participate in a variety of bike-friendly activities in Cedar Rapids throughout May designed to encourage cycling, enhance bike safety education and continue growing a bike-friendly culture.

In particular, Bike to Work Week May 15-19 will offer a variety of events focused on bike education, healthy incentives to get people active and moving and opportunity to gather with community members who share a love for biking.

A schedule of events includes:

  • May 15, 7 a.m.: Mayor’s Bike Ride and Proclamation, Red’s Public House, 112 Second St. SE
  • May 16, 7-9 a.m. and 4 p.m.: Pit Stops (stop by for educational material, snacks and give-aways, NewBo Market, First Avenue at the trail (across from the Double Tree), and Rockwell Collins (Corner of F Avenue and Collins Road)
  • May 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Bike to Lunch with the Mayor, meet at city hall and bike to Sag Wagon (827 Shaver Road NE); 6 p.m.: Ride of Silence, meet at Marion Square, Seventh Avenue, Marion
  • May 18, 7-9 a.m. and 4 p.m.: Pit Stops (stop by for educational material, snacks and give-aways, NewBo Market, First Avenue at the trail (across from the Double Tree), and Rockwell Collins (Corner of F Avenue and Collins Road); 6 p.m.: Meet Me at the Market, bike ride to Ely, meet at NewBo City Market
  • May 19, 6 p.m.: Handlebar Happy Hour/Wrap-up Party, Lion Bridge Brewery (59 16th Ave. SW)
