CRST International has docked in the CBJ’s Best of the Corridor Hall of Fame with its 10th win in the Best Trucking Company category.
CRST, with eight operating companies, 8,100 drivers, $1.7 billion in revenue and 6,583 trucks, is one of the largest privately held trucking companies in the United States. The company offers a wide variety of solutions for different transportation needs, from expedited routes to white-glove service.
“Our goal is always to provide value for customer and efficiency,” CEO David Rusch said. He adds that the company doesn’t just move freight, but helps customers reduce logistics costs. “We can close and shrink their supply chain.”
Despite its size, CRST isn’t sitting still. The company moved its corporate headquarters last year from the west side of Cedar Rapids to a new downtown office tower built by Chairman John Smith and his wife, Dyan. It also acquired Gardner Trucking Inc., California’s largest trucking company, and is planning a $25 million upgrade to its IT systems to boost efficiency and customer service.
