It’s been nearly two decades since local photographer Audree Larson founded Kliks Photography, and she’s starting to see a lot of familiar faces.

“We’ve come full circle with many clients,” Ms. Larson said. “I’ve photographed some as children in family portraits, to their senior photos, to their first business photo, to bridal boudoir and back again to their new family.”

Ms. Larson founded Kliks in 1998 after graduating from the University of Iowa with degrees in journalism and photography, and spending time working in a fine arts gallery and at her parents’ business. When asked if owning her own studio had always been a dream, she quoted Andy Warhol, saying “I remember him saying that everywhere he looked he saw ‘a beauty’ and I wanted to prove him right.”

Kliks Photography is located in downtown Cedar Rapids, and provides a variety of photographic services for clients, ranging from business headshots to family and senior portraits. And while it can be difficult for creative professionals to produce high-end shots in such a wide range of settings, Ms. Larson prides herself on the consistency of her work, along with her ability to provide a comfortable experience during photo shoots.

“I know how to encourage proper posture while capturing someone’s essence and my co-worker, Veronica [Weeks], is a masterful touch-up artist who can banish bellies and double chins,” Ms. Larson said.

Although Kliks’ clients hail primarily from the Corridor, Ms. Larson opened a second studio in Des Moines in 2014 after she realized that clients – especially women wanting boudoir photos – were traveling from the western side of the state to work with her. Her popular boudoir sessions now draw clients from as far as Omaha and Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

“Our boudoirs appeal to women of all shapes and ages who are looking to set the tone for a new relationship or reawaken a long-standing one,” she said.

Ms. Larson also appreciates the changing metropolitan areas that provide a backdrop for her studios, saying it is her “intention to reflect the exciting resurgence of these cities and their metropolitan flair into our portraits.”

Business photos are another big draw for Kliks. Headshots have become more prevalent and necessary, as businesses work to create an inviting presence online. Ms. Larson works with her clients to produce an approachable portrait, so they can be “seen in their best light.”
