Best Golf Course: Cedar Rapids Country Club

FIRST TIME ON LIST

The restoration of the Cedar Rapids Country Club’s classic Donald Ross-designed course is a big reason CBJ readers voted CRCC the Corridor’s Best Golf Course for 2018, says General Manager Travis Hall. The course’s deep history and refurbishment by restoration specialist and designer Ron Prichard brings course architects from across the country to play in Cedar Rapids. More national buzz came with the U.S. Golf Association’s selection of the course for the 2019 Women’s Senior Amateur Championship.

Restoration included taking out paved cart paths, “big-time tree removal” to help turf grow on sun-starved fairways and seeding large fescue areas. The improvements made it the first course in Iowa to merit a spot on Golfweek’s 100 Classic Course rankings, Mr. Hall said.
