Marion-based fine arts photographer Christopher V. Sherman’s photographic artwork will be prominently displayed in the soon-to-open St. Luke’s emergency room (ER) in Marion.
The state-of-the art emergency room, located at 3301 Armar Drive, will host a ribbon-cutting Friday, July 26 at 2:30 p.m. and an open house Saturday, July 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., which will include light refreshments and giveaways.
According to a release, St. Luke’s reached out to Mr. Sherman earlier this year because they wanted to showcase the beauty and essence of the Marion community in the new emergency room, while creating a calming environment for their patients.
Mr. Sherman, a skilled landscape and cityscape photographer, has captured the essence and beauty of Marion through his lens. His artwork, which is prominently displayed in the new emergency room, includes drone shots of the local region.
Patients and visitors to the St. Luke’s Marion ER will be treated to views of Indian Creek, the Marion Water Tower, the Prospect Meadows baseball fields, the “Cornhenge” sculpture, and City Square Park.
UnityPoint Health and Mr. Sherman have a history of successful collaboration. In 2021, UnityPoint Clinic incorporated several of Mr. Sherman’s photos into the environmental branding at UnityPoint Clinic Lindale Express, which opened the same year.
“Integrating Christopher V. Sherman’s photography into the design of our new Marion emergency room allows us to create a welcoming environment that resonates with the community,” said UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital Marion ER nurse manager Jillian Schatzle. “We believe the artwork will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the space but also provide comfort and a sense of connection to our patients and their families.”
“It’s an honor to have my work featured in UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital’s new Marion emergency room,” Mr. Sherman added. My goal has always been to convey the art and personality of our local community through my photography. I hope that these images bring a sense of peace and familiarity to everyone who visits.”
The new St. Luke’s Marion emergency room will open Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 9 a.m.
