Greater Iowa City, Inc., is now accepting applications for its 2026-2027 Community Leadership Program, the organization’s flagship annual leadership development initiative.
Established in 1990, the program has helped more than 800 individuals build the knowledge and connections needed to become effective community leaders. Alumni have gone on to lead local businesses, serve on boards and commissions, and win public office.
The year-long program includes 11 immersive sessions covering key sectors that shape the Iowa City region, including economic development, government, nonprofits, healthcare, education, arts and culture, and agriculture and the environment. Programming is curated each year by local volunteers who draw on their own experience and community connections to design a curriculum unique to each cohort.
Participants gain access to people and places not typically available to the general public, allowing them to engage directly with area leaders and develop a firsthand understanding of the issues, opportunities and challenges facing the community.
Applications are open now. Interested candidates can contact Tom Martinez at [email protected] for more information.
