Raising Cane’s, a chicken-finger fast food chain, is opening a new location in Iowa City at the Old Capitol Town Center at 201 S. Clinton St.
The fast food chain received a building permit for the area in December, said Rachel Kilburg Varley, Economic Development Coordinator for the Economic Development department of Iowa City.
According to the Iowa City Press-Citizen, it will take over the space once occupied by Panera Bread.
“We will begin construction on this restaurant next week, and aim to start serving our ONE LOVE – craveable Chicken Finger meals – in Iowa City this fall!” said Hannah Henderson, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Raising Cane’s, in an email to the CBJ on March 6, but added that it’s “too early” in the process to share an exact opening date.
This will be the second Raising Cane’s for Johnson County. The
first opened in Coralville in April 2022 at 2800 Commerce Drive.
