The 2025 Women of Influence are a group of incredibly multi-faceted and talented individuals. They are leaders who are striving for greatness — not only for themselves, but for their organizations and communities.
The Women of Influence awards recognize women who have made a difference in the Corridor as role models and leaders in their fields and communities. Nominated by those who have witnessed their impact first-hand, and chosen by a committee of previous winners, this year’s Women of Influence honorees are just as inspiring as their predecessors.
A consistent theme can be found across this year’s honoree profiles: a commitment to empowering and supporting the next generation of Corridor leaders.
“Teaching young people, you have so many opportunities to provide guidance and support,” said Cedar Rapids School Board President Cindy Garlock, who worked as a teacher for more than 30 years. “I look back at my teaching career and I think I was most effective at being a cheerleader for students, supporting them.”
“I do this because it’s important, because it allows me to serve the children and families that we work with here at Tanager in a way that feels very natural,” said Crystal Hall, director of community based and prevention services at Tanager Place.
Through leadership, volunteerism and advocacy, the 2025 Women of Influence are shaping the future of the Corridor.
In addition to recognizing the 10 Women of Influence, the CBJ also recognized one Emerging Woman of Influence. This award identifies one up-and-coming female leader who has not only achieved career success and recognition within her peer group, but is poised to take on a larger community-wide role.
This year’s Emerging Woman of Influence is Jessica Andino, executive director of the Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition, where she works with community organizations, policymakers, and residents to develop programs that address other issues.
The CBJ will host the 2025 Women of Influence awards from 5:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Hotel at Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids. Tickets are still available to this event, which includes networking, dinner and remarks from the winners. To learn more and purchase tickets, visit corridorbusiness.com
