
The Multicultural Development Center of Iowa (MDC Iowa) has a new associate director at its helm.
James Mims, a graduate of the Community Leadership Program and former site director of the Broadway Neighborhood Center, holds a bachelorโs degree in mathematics from the University of Iowa, with an emphasis on optimal business decision making.

In his new role, Mr. Mims will oversee staff members, lead grant initiatives, and guide the centerโs programs in economic development and STEM education, emphasizing the development and growth of the centerโs STEM Factory and INNOV8 Idea Lab.
Working closely with founder and executive director Tracy Jon Sargeant, Mr. Mims is expected to transition into the executive director role in the future.

Additionally, โhis analytical skills and knowledge from the Tippie College of Business will be valuable assets to MDCโs INCUBATE Business Accelerator program,โ a release stated.

The organizationโs programs address the digital divide, promote diversity in STEM, foster inclusive economic development, and build creative confidence through maker spaces and DIY initiatives.
