As part of the 2024 Smart Stars Awards, Media company Smart Meetings selected The Cedar Rapids Tourism Office and the City of Cedar Rapids as one of the Best Convention and Visitor’s Bureau/Destination Marketing Organizations (CVB/DMO) in the nation.

Cedar Rapids is among 24 other locations in the “Best CVB/DMO” category, but is the only destination in Iowa to receive a Smart Star Award for the second year in a row. The city previously won in the same category in 2023, according to a press release from Smart Meetings.

The Smart Stars Awards — which have been awarded since 2012 — are chosen by a group of professionals with Smart Meetings, with 31 total categories.

According to the press release, the Cedar Rapids Tourism Office was also chosen as a Platinum Choice CVB by the Smart Meetings audience in 2022 and 2023.

“We are beyond thrilled to be singled out by Smart Meetings for this award,” Julie Stow, Associate Executive Director of the Cedar Rapids Tourism Office, said in the release. “We couldn’t do it without our amazing city and hospitality partners who create unique and memorable experiences for our visitors.”

In fiscal year 2023, the Cedar Rapids Tourism office booked 81 meetings, conventions, tradeshows, and sporting events, creating 27,654 hotel/motel room nights and generating millions of dollars for the Cedar Rapids economy.

Cedar Rapids Tourism is featured in the June issue of Smart Meetings’ print and digital magazines as well as showcased on the Smart Meetings website.
