Harbor Freight Tools will officially open its new store in Cedar Rapids June 15, company officials announced in a release.
The new store is located at 4840 First Ave. NE, the former home of Bed Bath & Beyond, which announced plans to close its Cedar Rapids location in February 2023.
The new Harbor Freight Tools store will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The store will provide a full selection of tools and equipment in categories including automotive, air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment and hand tools.
This new store is the 16th Harbor Freight Tools store in Iowa, and joins existing stores at 3750 Williams Blvd. SW and 260 Highway 1 West in Iowa City. The store will bring 25 to 30 new jobs to the area, company officials said.

Harbor Freight Tools, known as an affordable retailer of tools and equipment, was founded in Calabasas, California in 1977. The company now has more than 1,500 locations in 48 states, with more than 28,000 employees.
The company was recently certified as a “Great Place to Work” for the second year in a row. It has also been recognized by Forbes as one of the 20 best large companies to work for in retail for four years in a row, one of the nation’s best employers for veterans and one of 20 best large companies for women to work for in retail.
