Marion Chamber announces new directors, chair

The Marion Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of four new members to its board of directors.

Chris Wheeler of Point Builders, Cydney Lovell of ITC Midwest, Jared Cast of Mercy Medical Center, and Joe Petersen of Hills Bank are joining the Marion Chamber of Commerce board, according to a news release.

Mr. Wheeler has been part of Point Builders since 2001 and currently serves as senior vice president. In addition to his board duties, he is also a Cedar Rapids downtown Rotarian, and serves as a director for the Freedom Foundation, Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa, and the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance Policy Board. He and his wife Krista live in Marion.

Ms. Lovell joined ITC Midwest as the area manager of local government & community affairs in 2019. Prior to that, she worked as the associate dean of the agriculture department of Kirkwood Community College, where she is still an adjunct instructor. Cydney and her husband Alan have three children.

Mr. Cast is currently the executive director of the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center at Mercy Medical Center. He began serving patients and staff in oncology since 2007 in multiple leadership roles. He lives in Marion with his wife and three children.

Mr. Petersen is a commercial banker with Hills Bank in Marion. He is a two-time graduate of the University of Dubuque with master’s degrees in business administration and management, a return Peace Corps volunteer, a new parent, and also serves on the boards of directors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Corridor and YouthPort. Joe and his family live in Marion.

In addition to the new board members, Holly Corkery of Lynch Dallas PC has been named the 2022-23 Chamber board chair.
