Mark Hudson

Vice President

Shuttleworth & Ingersoll
Age: 35

Mark Hudson doesn’t waste time getting involved.

He said the opportunity for younger folks to get involved in the Corridor was a key factor in his moving back to the area after having lived in several other places around the country.

“Those opportunities are what drew me here, because here if I wanted to do something I knew I could do it,” Mr. Hudson said. “Civically I could get involved right away.”

And he has. Since moving back to the area in 2008, Mr. Hudson has been appointed to the Iowa Board of Social Work and the Iowa State Bar Association’s Labor & Employment Council, as well as being asked to serve as the legislative director of the Iowa Society of Human Resource Management State Council.

Mr. Hudson channels his interest in politics into helping with political campaigns. He is serving as the Iowa co-chair of Lawyers for Romney and is a past chair of the Linn County GOP.

His involvement extends beyond professional affiliations and political interests though. Mr. Hudson has long served on the board of the Arc of East Central Iowa, starting his board term, in fact, while still in college and has given of his time to the Cornell College Alumni Board and ImpactCR.

He also just took on the role of den leader for his son’s Cub Scout group.

“Anyone can get connected to what they want at any time. It’s a very welcoming community in that way.”

In his law practice at Shuttleworth & Ingersoll, Mr. Hudson focuses on labor and employment compliance, counseling and litigation, as well as fair housing litigation.

After receiving his undergraduate degree in politics from Cornell College, which he credits with creating his connection to the Corridor, Mr. Hudson received his juris doctorate from Drake University.

Originally from Scottsdale, Ariz., Mr. Hudson now lives in Marion with his wife Lisa and their two children, 7-year-old Matthew and 4-year-old Kaitlyn.
