Five Corridor organizations receive Langhorne Leadership Development Grants

    Five Johnson County organizations have been selected to receive the inaugural Dr. John E. Langhorne Leadership Development Grants, with a total of $14,300 awarded to support leadership programs across the region.

    The grants, held by the Community Foundation of Johnson County, were established to honor the legacy of Dr. John E. Langhorne and his belief that leadership is a lifelong, evolving journey unique to each individual.

    “John earned a reputation as a champion of community leadership, inspiring positive change far beyond the doors of his business, Langhorne Associates,” said Mary Jo Langhorne, his wife, in a news release. “We are thrilled to see his legacy continue, carried forward through the impactful grants that have now been awarded.”

    This year’s recipients and their funded initiatives are:

    • Dream City — Leadership Development & Organizational Transformation Initiative
    • The Immigrant Welcome Network of Johnson County — 2026 IWNJC Leadership Academy: Community Leadership Development
    • Iowa City Community School District — Educators Rising
    • North Liberty Community Pantry — Strategic Planning & Leadership Development
    • Open Heartland — Voces al Frente: Immigrant Leadership Development Program

    The grants are designed to fund programs that foster leadership skills in people of all ages, reflecting Dr. Langhorne’s vision of strong, inclusive leadership development throughout the community.

    The Community Foundation of Johnson County is a 501(c)(3) public charity that connects donors with local causes through grantmaking, nonprofit resources, and community partnerships.
