The layoffs were first reported by KCRG-TV9.
The following statement was released Thursday:
“At Transamerica, we are enhancing our Retirement Operations model to support our business growth and improve customer experiences. Our strategic decisions are focused on delivering high-quality service and maintaining strong operational discipline.
Some employee positions were eliminated during this transition, with fewer than 25 employees impacted in Iowa. We are committed to supporting those affected with compassion, transparency, and the necessary resources.
Cedar Rapids has been, and continues to be, a vital location for Transamerica. It remains our largest office and a key hiring hub. Our commitment to our customers and the Cedar Rapids community remains strong and unchanged.”
Transamerica’s Cedar Rapids campus, at 6400 C St. SW, is focused on retirement and insurance packages, primarily serving middle-market clients. As of October 2024, Transamerica reported a headcount of just over 2,500 employees in Cedar Rapids, making it one of the area’s largest private employers.
