Amy Kristof-Brown has been reappointed to a second five-year term as dean of the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business, the university announced.

Ms. Kristof-Brown’s new term will run through June 30, 2031.

“Leading this college has been my greatest professional privilege, and working alongside our extraordinary faculty and staff gives me tremendous confidence as we build on our momentum and shape the future together,” Ms. Kristof-Brown said.

She joined the college in 1997 as a faculty member in management and entrepreneurship. She became senior associate dean in 2017 and was named interim dean in March 2020, before being appointed dean following a national search in December 2020.

During her first term, Ms. Kristof-Brown oversaw several achievements, including elevating the college’s national reputation, with top rankings in Risk Management and Insurance and the Iowa MBA program.

The college also launched its first new majors in 30 years with programs in Risk Management and Insurance and Entrepreneurship, expanded research capacity, and built new employer partnerships to strengthen student experiential learning. The college also successfully received reaccreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Her goals for the next term include executing a new strategic plan and expanding the Pappajohn Business Building by annexing the adjacent Gilmore Hall, a construction project expected to begin later this year.

Other goals include continued investment in research and strengthening administrative support, ensuring intentional enrollment growth, and strengthening delegation and decision-making for improved efficiency.

“As higher education continues to evolve, Tippie is well positioned to advance and sustain excellence, anchored by financial strength, national visibility, and a shared commitment to our mission,” she said.

Ms. Kristof-Brown holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and a doctorate from the University of Maryland.
