Alicia Faust is stepping down as executive director of Willis Dady Homeless Services after nearly a decade with the organization, the nonprofit announced Monday, March 16.
Faust joined Willis Dady in 2016 and has led the Cedar Rapids-based organization through a period of program growth and expanded community partnerships. During her tenure, the organization served thousands of individuals and families across Cedar Rapids and Linn County through shelter, housing placement, outreach and employment services.
“Leading Willis Dady Homeless Services has been one of the greatest privileges of my career,” Ms. Faust said. “This organization’s mission, the dedication of its staff, and the resilience of the people we serve inspire me every day. I am incredibly proud of the progress we have made together and confident that the organization will continue to thrive and expand its impact in the years ahead.”
David Karpick, currently the organization’s employment services director, will serve as interim executive director. Mr. Karpick will work with senior leadership and the board of directors to maintain operations while the board conducts a search for a permanent replacement, which is expected to begin in the coming months.
Lucas Hicks, chair of the board of directors, said the organization remains focused on continuity.
“We are deeply grateful for Alicia’s years of leadership and the many contributions she has made to strengthen our organization,” Mr. Hicks said. “Our priority is maintaining stability and continuing to deliver the critical services our community depends on.”
Ms. Faust was named one of the Corridor Business Journal’s “Forty Under 40” leaders in 2025.
Willis Dady Homeless Services provides shelter, outreach, housing assistance, veteran services and other supportive services to people experiencing homelessness in the Cedar Rapids area.
