Veridian Credit Union has awarded $50,000 in Giving Tuesday donations to organizations across Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.
The credit union selected recipient organizations through random drawing from public nominations for its Veridian Gives Back for Giving Tuesday campaign. Eligible organizations work to address one of Veridian’s five funding priorities: affordable housing, basic human needs, inclusion, employment readiness and financial literacy. Each nominated organization received one entry for the drawing regardless of the number of times it was nominated.
“Veridian was founded on the need to support our communities and the people in them,” said Renee Christoffer, Veridian president and CEO. “We celebrate Giving Tuesday because it’s an opportunity for us to encourage and inspire each other to strengthen the communities we share.”
One organization in each of the credit union’s five market areas received $10,000. Recipients include Mission of Hope in Cedar Rapids, Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates in Waterloo, Dorothy’s House in Des Moines, Least of My Brethren in Papillion, Nebraska, and ICA Food Shelf in Minnetonka, Minnesota.
Veridian Credit Union, founded in 1934 in Waterloo, is a not-for-profit financial cooperative with 32 branches across Iowa, eastern Nebraska and the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
