Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX, announced it has begun providing JetBlue Airways with FlightAware Foresight, a predictive analytics tool designed to improve airline operations.
The technology uses real-time flight tracking and machine learning to forecast potential delays caused by weather, congestion or other disruptions. The company said the insights allow airlines to adjust flight schedules, gate assignments and crew operations to improve on-time performance and connection times.
JetBlue integrated the technology into its systemwide operations in July.
“JetBlue is committed to using advanced technology to enhance our operations and better serve our passengers,” said Tom Lloyd, JetBlue director of SOC strategy and continuous improvement, in a release. “FlightAware Foresight technology offers unparalleled accuracy and actionable insights, enabling us to proactively manage disruptions and deliver a more seamless travel experience.”
Collins Aerospace said the system uses billions of data points to provide airlines with arrival and departure forecasts and deliver timely information to passengers.
“Implementing the predictive power of FlightAware Foresight technology enhances JetBlue’s operational efficiency while simultaneously delivering more accurate, timely updates to their passengers,” said Nicole White, vice president and general manager of connected aviation at Collins Aerospace. “This dynamic combination empowers JetBlue to make proactive, informed decisions that positively influence each leg of the passenger experience, from initial departure to final arrival and each connection along the journey.”
Collins Aerospace, with operations in Cedar Rapids and throughout Iowa, employs about 80,000 people worldwide and develops aerospace and defense technologies. Its parent company, RTX, reported more than $80 billion in 2024 sales and is based in Arlington, Virginia.
