Fluid Quip Technologies has completed the installation and startup of its DCO (Distillers Corn Oil) Technology system at Chippewa Valley Ethanol Co. in Benson, Minnesota.

The Cedar Rapids-based process engineering firm said the system improved distillers corn oil recovery at the plant by 35% within the first 30 days of operation, exceeding its guaranteed performance target.

The technology uses multi-stage stillage washing and thin stillage clarification to increase oil yield, according to Fluid Quip. Designed as a bolt-on to existing facilities, it integrates with existing oil recovery systems without requiring recurring chemical additives.

The process is designed to improve plant reliability and reduce maintenance by allowing higher evaporator solids with less fouling.

“DCO Technology is a strategic, scalable solution for ethanol producers to create lasting value from existing operations,” said Neal Jakel, president of Fluid Quip Technologies.

Chad Friese, CEO and general manager of Chippewa Valley Ethanol Co., said the installation was delivered on time and the system’s performance has “exceeded our expectations.”

Fluid Quip Technologies provides processing and separation systems to ethanol producers and other bio-based industries. The company has been operating for more than 30 years.
