Jaime Mead
Recruiting Talent Manager | The Overture Group | AGE: 39
Residence: Cedar Rapids
Hometown: Sioux City
Education: Bachelor of Science, elementary education, Iowa State University; master’s degree in teaching, Morningside University
What was your first job? Lifeguard
How long have you been in your current job? Seven years
Who do you consider your local mentors? Brandi Mueller, Managing Director, The Overture Group, partner in crime
Best advice you ever received? From my dad: “Jaime, everything is always figureoutable.”
What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I actually hate being in the spotlight. I love cheerleading others on. I love growing and developing others … behind the scenes.
What do you consider your “big break” in your career, so far? Joining The Junior League of Cedar Rapids. It has provided me with leadership development, education and training, volunteer opportunities, and a great group of women to surround myself with.
What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? Connection. We have streamlined and simplified so many things that people are missing human interaction and personal connection. We can quickly and easily do our jobs from home, or go to that meeting online, or order those two items from Amazon. But we are missing out on human interaction.
If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? Elementary, middle school and high school education.
What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? We are loyal — but to people, not organizations.
What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? I have been very career-focused and a productivity junkie. I would like to slow down and start a family.
Each year, the Corridor Business Journal shines a spotlight on young professionals who have made a meaningful impact on the region early in their careers. We are proud to introduce you to the 21st class of Forty Under 40 honorees, chosen by a committee of past honorees.
