Project Better Together to tout resiliency at arena event

Project Better Together, a collaborative effort of the Iowa City Downtown District, the Iowa City Area Business Partnership, Think Iowa City and the Iowa City Area Development Group, will host a unique celebratory event on Wednesday at the Xtream Arena in Coralville.

The Building Better Together celebration will “recap the year that was and look ahead to an emerging and rebuilt future,” officials said in a release.

City and county leaders will share plans for the year ahead and discuss various community-minded initiatives led by Project Better Together during the pandemic.

“Project Better Together came about as a necessity during the pandemic and quickly grew to be much more, said Josh Schamberger, president of Think Iowa City. “We want to take a moment to reflect on the past year with a community gathering, share our lessons learned, and look forward to our brighter future.”

Awards recognizing resiliency during the pandemic will be presented to local leaders, and insights into a rebuilt vision for the future will be introduced.

Doors open for the event at 4:30 p.m. for networking, with the program kicking off at 5 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

Per current CDC guidelines, masks are not required for fully vaccinated guests, but face masks are encouraged when social distancing is not possible.
