Uptown Coffee Company will expand to a second location in 2026 in Cedar Rapids, taking over the cafe space inside NewBo City Market from Roasters NewBo.
Roasters NewBo, operated by Amanda Steines, who handles both sourcing and roasting of beans in-house, is relocating to 1120 2nd St. SE. The cafe will likely continue operating at the NewBo location through February during the transition. Ms. Steines, who became a barista more than a decade ago, built Roasters on a commitment to freshness and serving espresso-based drinks without “milking down” lattes or cappuccinos.
Uptown Coffee opened its original location, at 760 11th St., Marion, in June 2020 and has operated for more than five years. The company announced it is hiring baristas with coffee experience for the NewBo City Market location, with interested applicants directed to send resumes to [email protected].
“It’s official! Roasters NewBo is successfully off to their next adventure, and they’re passing the torch to Uptown Coffee Company!” the NewBo City Market wrote in a social media post. “We love you, Amanda and team, and we’re also so excited to welcome Uptown to our Market family!”
The NewBo City Market location marks Uptown’s first expansion beyond its original cafe.
