UI Health Care to open new clinic in Urbandale, consolidating specialty services

University of Iowa Health Care will open a new clinic in Urbandale on Sept. 9, consolidating several of its existing Des Moines-area specialty services into a single location to improve access and convenience for patients in central and western Iowa.

The new facility is located at 2901 NW 86th St. in Urbandale.

The new facility, located at 2901 NW 86th St., will serve as a hub for adult and pediatric specialty services currently offered at UI Health Care’s West Des Moines–Jordan Creek Parkway and Johnston–Chambery Boulevard locations. Services at the Urbandale clinic will include adult hepatology, pediatric nephrology, pediatric urology, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility care.

“We are proud of the excellent services our clinics already provide in the Des Moines area, supporting UI Health Care’s broader mission to provide world-class care for all Iowans, close to home,” said Rachel Kirchner, director of UI Community Clinics, in a release. “By moving select adult and pediatric specialty services to a central location, we can improve the patient experience and expand access to the care we currently provide in this community.”

UI Health Care opened its infertility clinic in West Des Moines in 2020 and has since served more than 4,000 patients. According to the organization, it holds the highest in vitro fertilization success rate in Iowa – 10% higher than the national average.

“We treat each of our patients as an individual, and we feel privileged to be a part of this community, as well as so many Des Moines families’ journeys to pregnancy,” said Dr. Abigail Mancuso, reproductive endocrinologist at the West Des Moines Clinic. “We are excited about moving to a larger facility in Urbandale so more patients in Des Moines and beyond have increased access to infertility care. Having one central location where we can provide more kinds of testing and imaging all in one place will allow for better coordination of care.”

Patients currently receiving care at the Johnston and Jordan Creek locations will receive additional information in the coming months.

In addition to these clinics, more than 20 Mission Cancer + Blood locations joined UI Health Care, including several in the Des Moines area.
