The Woodlands, the skilled nursing facility at Meth-Wick Community, has received a deficiency-free survey from the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) for the second consecutive year.

The unannounced inspection took place over four days and involved a team of five state inspectors. The surveyors reviewed facility records, interviewed staff and residents, and observed care practices. At the conclusion of the inspection, no deficiencies were cited.

Surveyors praised The Woodlands team for error-free medication passes and procedures, strong infection control practices and attentive resident care. Residents and family members interviewed during the visit offered consistently positive feedback about their experiences. Inspectors also noted staffing levels, training programs and overall preparedness as strengths. One surveyor highlighted “the impressive level of organization and the ease of access to all requested documentation.”

“This recognition two years in a row is a testament to the consistency, professionalism, and heart our staff brings to their work every day,” said Kathy Horan, chief executive officer of Meth-Wick Community. “It’s especially meaningful to hear firsthand from surveyors that our residents feel cared for and supported, and that our team’s attention to detail stands out at every level.”

State surveys are conducted annually to ensure nursing homes meet federal and state health and safety standards. A deficiency-free survey result means inspectors did not identify any violations, an outcome that is considered relatively rare in the industry.

“The Woodlands team continues to set the bar for excellence,” Ms. Horan said. “We’re proud to provide a place where older adults receive not only expert care, but also the dignity, compassion, and respect they deserve.”

Meth-Wick Community, located in Cedar Rapids, offers a range of living options and care services for adults 55 and older, including independent living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services.
