The North Liberty Community Pantry will open a new facility at 350 W. Penn St. on Monday, June 23, at 9:30 a.m.

Executive Director Ryan Bobst said the organization has experienced unprecedented growth in the number of neighbors seeking food, clothing, and other resources.

“Compared with 2021, we are on pace to provide three times the amount of food and clothing to three times as many people,” Mr. Bobst said, in a release. “We are Planting New Roots to meet the growing needs of our neighbors today and in the future. The new facility will shift challenges we face today into strengths we will lean on tomorrow.”

The 10,500-square-foot building allows the Pantry to accept more food donations and serve more families. The new space also includes private meeting rooms for clients with needs beyond food and clothing and combines food and clothing distribution under one roof.

NLCP Board Chair Sam Fordyce praised the community’s support and the leadership that made the expansion possible.

“I am so fortunate to be part of a nonprofit organization that cares so passionately about their neighbors, and I’m thrilled to have the support of the community to help us carry out the mission of caring for those neighbors by partnering with us to open this much needed new facility,” he said.

The new facility will operate under the following service hours beginning June 23:

  • Monday – Thursday and Saturday: 9:30 a.m. – noon
  • Tuesday and Thursday evenings: 3:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Donation hours will run Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To mark the opening and celebrate its 40th anniversary, NLCP will host a Grand Opening Celebration on Monday, July 14, at 4:00 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
