Newsweek/Statista has named UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s the “No. 1 Hospital in Iowa” in its “America’s Best-in-State Hospitals” list for 2025.

Since Newsweek began the Best Hospitals list in 2019, St. Luke’s has made the Iowa list seven times. This is the first time it has secured the top position.

“I am extremely proud of this honor,” said Casey Greene, UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital president. “This national recognition is a direct reflection on our dedicated team for their commitment to providing safe, quality care to our community.”

According to Newsweek, the hospital rankings were compiled using a combination of quality metrics provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), data from the American Hospital Association (AHA) Annual Survey of Hospitals Database, insights from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) patient experience surveys, and responses from a voluntary Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) implementation survey.

The awards list was announced Oct. 23 and comprised 700 hospitals.
