MidWestOne Financial Group Inc. awarded more than $207,000 in grants through the MidWestOne Foundation, bringing its total contributions for the year to $367,000.

The Iowa City-based parent company of MidWestOne Bank distributed the grants to 14 organizations across Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The foundation awarded $160,000 in grants earlier this year.

Since its inception in the early 2000s, the MidWestOne Foundation has contributed more than $2.8 million to organizations in communities where the bank operates.

Charlie Funk, chairman of the MidWestOne Bank Foundation, said the foundation received an unusually high number of applications this cycle.

“The need is great and while we couldn’t fund every request, we’re happy to grant funds to 14 exceptional organizations doing significant work as they make a positive difference in their communities,” he said in a statement.

    In Iowa, grant recipients include:

    • Multicultural Development Center, Iowa City

    • Holy Family Catholic Schools, Dubuque
    • Keokuk County Childcare Network, Sigourney
    • Allen Memorial Child Protection, Waterloo
