Work Based Learning Coordinator Kirkwood Community College, Hiawatha AGE: 28 Best advice you ever received? Only say yes to the things that really drive you. Pick the activities and organizations you become involved with carefully. What do you consider your biggest break so far? Working at MidWestOne Bank. I moved very quickly from service associate to personal banker and then to assistant retail manager. These opportunities exposed me to so much and enabled me to do more than I would have initially thought possible. What would most people be surprised to learn about you? I have a rather large houseplant collection.  What is the biggest issue facing the Corridor today? Food insecurity – there is no reason that anyone in our community, let alone our world, should go hungry. There are many great organization and programs working to combat this, like the Veggie Rx program. This program is a partnership between the North Liberty and Coralville Community Pantries, the Johnson County Food Coordinator, the U of I’s mobile clinic, multiple locally-owned farms and more.  If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? Causes that target education and food insecurity.  What are your passions outside of the workplace? I love to be active, both physically and in the community.  What is something people should know about your generation in the workplace? We are big creative collaborators. When given the opportunity to work collaboratively and find creative solutions, we shine.  What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? I’d like to have gone back to school for my master’s, help grow the Veggie Rx program and start chipping away at my travel bucket list.
