Senior Project Manager University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics AGE: 39 What was your first job? Holden Seeds in Williamsburg, working in the cornfields. Best advice you ever received? Never act on anything out of anger. Wait until you’ve calmed down, then find the best path forward. What do you consider your biggest break so far? I have had two, and both are related to being assigned large projects involving things that had not been done before (at least within the organization or community).  What would most people be surprised to learn about you? That I’m still under 40? What’s the biggest issue facing the Corridor, and why? Having recently completed three years of work on starting the GuideLink Center in Iowa City, I have seen firsthand some of the systemic problems with access and funding when it comes to mental health care. The two new “access centers” in Johnson (i.e., GuideLink) and Linn counties are a great start to addressing the issue, but there are still gaps that need to be filled.  If you had $1 million to give, what causes would you support? The Shelter House and GuideLink Center, providing immediate mental health and substance abuse care to those in crisis, and the Iowa and Johnson County Pheasants Forever chapters.  What are your passions outside of the workplace? Hunting, fishing, golfing, hiking, exploring new places. What’s something people should know about your generation in the workplace? We are creative, positive and wise beyond our years. We are passionate about the work we do as long as it’s meaningful to us. We aren’t scared to try new things.  What do you want to accomplish by the time you are 50? Catch a 30-inch walleye.
