Marco's Grilled Cheese is headed to Coralville this year, following Pita Pit closing its only Corridor location in 2022. Signage taped to the front door shows the restaurant is looking at a 2023 open date and to send all job enquiries to the company email address. Pita Pit noted workforce as a major driving factor in closing its doors, saying that small businesses are "struggling" to find people to hire. Mark Paterno owns and operates Marco's Grilled Cheese, in addition to other small businesses in the area like George's Gyros, Paco's Tacos and Marco's Taxi, according to his Linkedin page. He is also a realtor for Urban Acres Real Estate. "I'm simultaneously opening one at the old Milio's space on 1st Ave. in Iowa City as well," Mr. Paterno said in an email. Merchandise apparel shop Marco's Game Day opened on 16 S. Clinton St. in Iowa City, as reported by the CBJ last January. Marco's Grilled Cheese started as a food cart in the Iowa City Pedestrian Mall in 2000, according to its website.
