A national building products distributor is moving into Marion after purchasing a 40,000-square-foot facility in the Marion Enterprise Center.
MacArthur Company, an employee-owned distributor of commercial building products, bought the former Twenty40 Building Concepts facility at 6455 Partners Avenue and will relocate about 20 employees from its current leased location near the Eastern Iowa Airport, 815 Mann Road, Cedar Rapids. The company expects to be fully operational by January 2026.
Founded in 1913 and headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, MacArthur Company distributes mechanical and building insulation, HVAC components, commercial roofing, siding, decking, windows and millwork to contractors nationwide. The company operates more than 40 locations across the United States and is known for its product expertise and customer service.
The move allows MacArthur Company to operate from an owned facility rather than leasing space, expanding its regional distribution capacity while strengthening service to contractors across Eastern Iowa.
Mike Peterson, the company’s regional manager, said Marion’s location aligns with the company’s regional operations. MacArthur Company recently opened a branch in the Quad Cities, and the Marion facility provides geographic coverage to serve customers effectively.
“Marion is a growing market in a location that aligns well with our regional operations,” Mr. Peterson said in a statement. “Our lease at our former site was coming to an end, and this opportunity provided the right long-term fit.”
Mark Seckman, president of the Marion Economic Development Corporation, said local business owner Chad Pelley facilitated the deal by relocating his business from the building to make room for MacArthur Company.
“This is a win for Marion and the region,” Mr. Seckman said in a statement. “We are pleased to welcome a respected, employee-owned company that contributes to the strength of our construction and industrial supply sector.”
Marion Mayor Nick AbouAssaly said the project reflects the city’s business climate.
“Marion has worked intentionally to create a welcoming environment for companies to invest, expand and serve the region,” Mr. AbouAssaly said in a statement. “MacArthur Company’s decision to locate here demonstrates the confidence that strong, well-established businesses have in Marion’s momentum.”
The company has begun moving operations to the new facility.
