Iowa City Highlander Hotel seeks bankruptcy protection

The Highlander Hotel in Iowa City is seeking Chapter 11 protection, according to court records filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
Highlander Hotel, LLC filed the petition on Dec. 16, 2025, seeking to reorganize its finances while continuing operations. A Chapter 11 debtor “usually proposes a plan of reorganization to keep its business alive and pay creditors over time,” according to the U.S. Courts’…
