Coralville-based Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT) is conducting layoffs, company officials confirmed Tuesday.

The company has more than 2,000 employees across 11 global locations, according to its website. Current Iowa employment figures were not available, but a 2018 CBJ article on IDT’s acquisition from Danaher Corporation reported 770 workers in Coralville. The company’s LinkedIn page lists 820 associated members living in Iowa.

The timing of the layoffs remains unclear. IDT declined to comment on when they will take effect, but a company spokesperson confirmed 4.7% of IDT’s Iowa workforce has been impacted. The company did not immediately disclose which positions were affected, but said in a statement that employees received severance and support packages “consistent with company policy.”

“Integrated DNA Technologies has made the intentional decision to restructure parts of our business, which includes refocusing resources, to sustain future growth and support our long-term business objectives,” a company spokesperson emailed the CBJ. “These measured changes reflect IDT’s ongoing transformation as a global leader in genomics and positions our business capabilities to evolve with changing customer demands.”

The email added that any changes IDT makes are calculated to ensure ongoing service to customers, support for employees and to strengthen business capabilities.

“These efforts reflect how we are realigning resources and investments to deliver on shifting customer needs worldwide,” the company spokesperson said.

As of Dec. 10, no specific information on the layoffs have been posted to the Iowa Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) act website.

IDT develops, manufactures, and markets nucleic acid (DNA) products that support the life sciences industry. The company is headquartered in Coralville and has locations in Singapore, Japan, China, South Korea, Australia, Belgium, California, Colorado and North Carolina.
