Integrated DNA Technologies, a Coralville-based genomics company, is partnering with Beckman Coulter Life Sciences to automate several of its DNA sequencing testing methods, potentially reducing lab time and improving accuracy for cancer researchers.

IDT announced it will automate its gene sequencing processes on Beckman’s newly launched Biomek i3 Benchtop Liquid Handler, a compact automated lab device. Both companies are subsidiaries of Danaher.

The companies will automate IDT’s Archer FUSIONPlex and VARIANTPlex testing methods, along with xGen Hybrid Capture processes, on the Biomek i3 instrument. The device offers a compact footprint and advanced capabilities, including optional temperature control features and intuitive software for rapid protocol development – making it ideal for labs that handle fewer samples without sacrificing quality.

“We’re redefining what walk-away automation means by optimizing NGS workflows and enhancing automation compatibility and scalability to empower labs to focus more on discovery and less on manual processing,” said Ajay Gannerkote, president at IDT.

Partnering with IDT “allows us to deliver a robust solution that reduces the complexity of targeted sequencing workflows and supports labs of all sizes in achieving consistent, high-quality results,” said Ewan Grant, senior director of automation at Beckman Coulter Life Sciences.

Automated methods for IDT’s sequencing solutions are currently being developed by technical support teams from both companies.
