Field Day Brewing earned a silver medal at the 2025 Great American Beer Festival competition for its Lime Featherweight beer.

The North Liberty brewery competed against more than 8,500 entries from across the country in the competition hosted by the Brewers Association. The festival featured 108 beer categories and six cider categories judged by professional panels.

Field Day won in the American Fruit Beer category for Lime Featherweight, an American lager brewed with more than 80 pounds of fresh limes per batch. The 15-barrel brewpub specializes in Czech and German lagers.

“Having just celebrated our two-year anniversary in August, bringing home national recognition at the most prestigious and competitive beer competition in the country was a huge win for us,” said Alec Travis, owner and director of brewing operations at Field Day, in a release.

Field Day was the only Iowa brewery to earn a medal in this year’s competition.

“This wasn’t just a win for Field Day Brewing and Lime Featherweight; it was a win for the brewing industry in Iowa as a whole,” Travis said.

A total of 273 breweries and cideries earned 347 medals in the competition. The awards ceremony was held Oct. 11 at the Colorado Convention Center and livestreamed on The Brewing Network.

“Earning a medal here, whether it’s gold, silver, or bronze, is an incredible, career-defining achievement that signifies a brew’s excellence against the most rigorous standards in the industry,” said Chris Williams, competition director for the Brewers Association.

Field Day Brewing opened in North Liberty in August 2023.
