DVIP/RVAP Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Services’ annual Holiday Store will provide free gifts to families who have received services from the organization within the past two years. Clients can select toys and gifts tailored to their children’s interests, including STEM kits, art supplies, books, Legos and gift cards for teenagers.

“The holidays can be a stressful time for families experiencing trauma, upheaval, and uncertainty. In line with our mission of providing ‘Safety and Dignity. Always.,’ our Holiday Store ensures that the families we serve get to experience the magic of the holiday season,” said Ally Tippe, DVIP/RVAP incoming director of community engagement.

Last year, the Holiday Store provided gifts to 178 children. DVIP/RVAP is asking community members to help stock this year’s store by purchasing items from the organization’s wish list and dropping them off at participating locations through Dec. 22.

The organization particularly needs gifts for adults and teenagers, including new water bottles, journals, headphones, Bluetooth speakers, lotion sets and self-care items such as face masks and bath bombs. Children working with advocates select these items as gifts for their parents and caregivers.

To arrange a drop-off time, call 319-359-3953 or email [email protected]. Donations are also accepted at these participating locations:

Iowa City: First Presbyterian Church, Bluebird Diner (all locations), Lepic Kroeger Realtors, Dodge Street Tire, Daydream Comics, Ace Hardware on Mall Drive, Big Grove Brewery (both locations), Sustainable Landscape Solutions, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church

    Coralville: Scheels, Applebee’s

    West Branch: The Serving Cafe
