Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Finance Authority Director Debi Durham will deliver the keynote address at Hiawatha’s State of the City event on Aug. 19, according to the Hiawatha Economic Development Corporation (HEDCO).
The event, held as part of Hiawatha’s 75th anniversary, will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at McGrath Hyundai, 1040 N. Center Point Road.
Ms. Durham is expected to speak about regional growth opportunities, statewide economic development and workforce initiatives.
Ms. Durham has led the state’s economic development agency since 2011, overseeing public-private partnerships, billion-dollar business recruitment efforts and expanded trade and investment opportunities.
Mayor Steve Dodson will also speak, highlighting the city’s growth over 75 years and its future vision.
HEDCO Chair Emily Kaiser will open the event with remarks on the organization’s economic development work and ongoing business growth initiatives.
“We’re excited to have Director Durham share her insights on regional and statewide economic opportunities,” Ms. Kaiser said in a statement. “Her keynote address, combined with Mayor Dodson’s perspective on Hiawatha’s growth, will provide attendees with a comprehensive view of our city’s place in Iowa’s economic landscape.”
The programme will include a social hour with appetizers and cocktails before formal remarks. Tickets are available through Eventbrite, with a link also posted on HEDCO’s website.
