Corda Credit Union has secured naming rights for a new sports complex breaking ground in North Liberty this fall.
The Corda Sports Center, a $14 million, 50,000-square-foot facility proposed for the east side of North Liberty at the Liberty Commons development, will include a 24-hour fitness center operated by Elite Fitness and a physical therapy clinic led by Ability Physical Therapy.
The credit union’s 10-year exclusive naming rights agreement is with Murray Elite, the athletic organization behind the project.
“This partnership just makes sense,” said Kenyon Murray, founder of Murray Elite, in a release. “Corda Credit Union and Murray Elite both care deeply about the communities we serve. We’re here to uplift, inspire, and create real opportunities. Our values line up, and the timing couldn’t be better.”
Paula O’Rourke, president and CEO of Corda, said the project aligns with the credit union’s values on well-being, which emphasize physical, mental and financial qualities.
“This partnership with Murray Elite lets us support our community in a way that goes beyond financial services. We’re proud to be part of a space that encourages growth, wellness, and connection – values that are at the heart of who we are,” she said.
Plans for the project were announced at the North Liberty City Council’s March 25 meeting, where Mr. Murray outlined the facility’s details. In addition to offering a fitness center and physical therapy clinic, the building will host basketball tournaments, recruiting events, basketball training programs, leadership development workshops, personal coaching sessions and seasonal basketball camps.
Additionally, it will serve as home base for Mr. Murray’s nonprofit organization, the Murray Foundation.
Murray Elite has partnered with Sportsman Solutions to guide sponsorship and partnership strategy for the facility’s long-term success. Sportsman, a national leader in sports venue development and revenue generation, is helping secure additional funding and mission-aligned partners for the project.
“Corda’s expansion is a major move into the Corridor, and this partnership plants their flag in a meaningful way,” said Jacob Goyke, of Sportsman Solutions. “Murray Elite is going to shape the future of sports and health in the region. These are the types of partnerships we strive to create – rooted in purpose and built for lasting community impact.”
Additional project partners include construction firm Build to Suit and building designer Streamline Architects. The project will break ground in September 2025 and wrap up by December 2026, the release stated.
