The Community Foundation of Johnson County will celebrate its 25th anniversary Oct. 30 with an event that includes awarding $250,000 in grants and launching a new legacy society.

The celebration will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Hy-Vee Center at Centennial Park in North Liberty.

The foundation was established in 2000 by a committee that included Willard L. “Sandy” Boyd, Dick Schwab and Joan Benson. Since its founding, the organization has awarded more than $30 million in grants and established more than 300 charitable funds.

Honorary co-chairs Lisa Bluder and Dave Bluder will unveil the Heart of Johnson County Legacy Society during the event. The initiative recognizes individuals who have made planned gifts to the foundation.

“When you commit to a legacy gift, you’re joining a growing group of neighbors and friends who want to support sustainable change and a better future for everyone in Johnson County — long past our lifetimes,” Mr. Bluder said.

The foundation will distribute $250,000 in Community Impact Grants during the celebration. The grants fund projects addressing needs and promoting innovation, equity and opportunity across the county.

Four recipients of Legendary Leader Awards will be recognized at the event. The awards honor individuals, families, businesses and organizations for philanthropic leadership.

The event is open to the public. Those interested in attending can RSVP at cfjc.org/25celebration.

The Community Foundation of Johnson County manages $72 million in assets and has awarded $34 million in grants to more than 250 nonprofits in Johnson County.
