The McGrath Family of Dealerships was formed in 1991 with the partnership of Mike McGrath Auto Center, Pat McGrath Oldsmobile-GMC-Isuzu and Pat McGrath Chevrolet, and the company’s continued growth has enabled improvement in selection and customer experience.
In 2021, a total of eight franchised dealership locations and three used car superstores make up the auto group’s holdings, propelling McGrath to become the largest family-owned automotive company in Iowa.
McGrath opened a new Buick GMC Cadillac dealership at 1600 51st St. NE in 2020, a move appreciated by customers, who often shop different brands within the GM family, according to Gavin McGrath, general manager of McGrath Chevyland and McGrath Buick GMC Cadillac. McGrath also relocated its Ford and Hyundai franchises to its Hiawatha campus in 2020, moving from their longtime location on First Avenue SE.
McGrath’s dealerships serve several vehicle manufacturers, including Volkswagen, Kia, Dodge, Jeep, Buick, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Cadillac, Ford, GMC, Hyundai and Ram.
