Cedar Rapids-based design and branding agency FUEL earned 25 Excellence awards at the Art Directors Association of Iowa (ADAI) 68th Annual Design Exhibition, held in Des Moines.

According to a news release, the ADAI exhibition celebrates top design work from across the state. FUEL received awards spanning multiple categories — including identity systems, photography, animation, website and app design, collateral, and design for social impact — for work completed on behalf of more than a dozen businesses and organizations.

Among the clients recognized were Cold Zero, which received awards for collateral and sales promotion and packaging; Don Hummer Trucking, recognized for photography; and Fancy Creek, which earned honors for its integrated brand system, identity system, sales promotion and packaging, and website and app design. Iowa Region SCCA was recognized for its identity mark, while Knack Smokers and Grills earned five awards spanning its integrated brand system, collateral, identity mark, photography, and website and app design.

Martin Equipment received recognition for a video spot and photography, and Metro Youth Football Association was honored for illustration. Thunder Armor earned awards for collateral and photography. United Way Quad Cities and YWCA of the Quad Cities each received awards in the Design for Social Impact/Public Service category, with United Way also recognized for a video spot and YWCA for website and app design. Warrior Rising received an award for collateral. FUEL itself earned awards for self-promotion and animation.

The agency also took home Best of Category honors in Photography for its Martin Equipment work and in Animation for FUEL’s own “Tiny Tidings of Joy” holiday video.

“Iowa design has a voice, and it’s getting louder. It’s ambitious, sophisticated, and as good as anything happening anywhere. We’re honored to be part of that story alongside our incredible clients and a remarkably talented team,” said FUEL President and Co-Founder John Moes in a statement.

The recognition builds on FUEL’s track record of strong performances in past ADAI exhibitions. The agency specializes in brand development and works with clients throughout Iowa and the Midwest.
