Greater Iowa City, Inc. celebrated outstanding business and community leaders at its annual A Toast to Business awards ceremony April 29 at the Graduate Iowa City.
According to a news release, the event drew more than 200 attendees and recognized excellence across economic growth, workforce development and community investment in the region.
“A Toast to Business was created to honor the businesses and leaders who drive economic growth, create jobs, uplift neighborhoods, and make our area a vibrant place to live and work,” said Nancy Bird, president and CEO of Greater IC, in a statement. “Through these awards, we hope to celebrate great people and the spirit of entrepreneurship and creativity that defines our community.”
The evening’s honorees spanned several categories. In business education and partnerships, GT Karr of Sueppel’s Building & Remodeling received the Trade Builder Award and Sidekick Coffee & Books took home the Youth Engagement Award.
Business impact awards went to Kinseth Hospitality (Economic Growth Award), Randy’s Flooring (Roots Award), Carew Chiropractic Clinic (Small Business Award) and 223 Vintage Co. (Spirit of Rural Prosperity Award).
In business leadership, Little Village Magazine earned the Artisan Innovation Award and ChildServe received the Unity Builder Award.
Greater IC also recognized its own investors. Ricardo Rangel Jr. received the Ambassador Spirit Award, Ashley Bermel earned the Council Impact Award, Corda Credit Union was named Emerging Investor of the Year and Robin Therme of CIVCO Medical Solutions was named Investor of the Year.
