Notifications posted to the Iowa Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act website are providing details on UnityPoint Health’s layoff plans for more than 200 IT and revenue cycle employees, including nearly 100 in the Corridor, by outsourcing functions to third-party vendors.

UnityPoint announced the outsourcing this week “in order to strengthen (our) long-term financial sustainability and ensure continued access to local, high-quality patient care.”

“Like many health systems across the country, we are navigating a period of sustained financial pressure that requires us to make difficult but necessary decisions,” said UnityPoint president and chief executive officer Scott Kizer. “Our focus is to ensure we remain strong for the future – so we can continue delivering expert, high-quality care and expand local access for the patients and communities who depend on us.”

The UnityPoint positions will be eliminated as of July 24, according to the Iowa WARN notifications. Affected employees will be provided with severance, benefits continuation, and career transition support, according to UnityPoint.

    • Des Moines – 85 (across three locations)
