Mercy Medical Center has entered a new partnership with Des Moines-based Medical Center Anesthesiologists (MCA) to provide anesthesiology services as the hospital continues its move toward a full-employment staffing model for anesthesia care.
MCA, which has served the Iowa region for more than five decades, comprises more than 40 physicians. The group will now begin delivering anesthesia services at Mercy’s main hospital campus in Cedar Rapids.
“We’re excited about this partnership, which developed at the right moment for both Mercy and MCA,” said Dr. Tim Quinn, president and CEO of Mercy. “We chose MCA based on their strong reputation, clinical quality, and proximity, which allows for more streamlined coverage and coordination.”
Dr. Quinn added that the new relationship aligns with Mercy’s focus on patient safety and high-quality care as its program expands.
Dr. John Sweetman, president of MCA, said the group looks forward to working with Mercy’s staff in Cedar Rapids.
“MCA is grateful to begin this partnership with Mercy Medical Center and expand our mission to deliver high quality anesthesia care in Iowa,” he said. “We welcome the opportunity to bring our team of experienced anesthesiologists to work together with the physicians and nurses at Mercy and look forward to providing excellent surgical care to the patients of Cedar Rapids.”
Mercy Medical Center, a licensed 424-bed hospital in Cedar Rapids, was recently recognized by PINC AI and Fortune as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals.
