North Liberty-based Steindler Surgery Center announced the successful completion of its first three hip replacement surgeries using an anterior approach.
Joint replacement specialist Dr. Derek Breder led the introduction of the less invasive technique, which leads to quicker recoveries, less pain and decreased risk of complications.
“Offering anterior hip replacement in an outpatient setting is a game changer for our patients,” said Dr. Breder. “Because the anterior approach avoids cutting major muscles, patients typically experience faster recovery times and less post-operative discomfort. It’s rewarding to bring this level of advanced care to our community in a setting designed for safety, efficiency, and comfort.”
Steindler Surgery Center is an ambulatory surgery center (ASC), where all procedures are performed as same-day discharge procedures.
“These procedures demonstrate what’s possible when you combine a highly skilled surgical team with a purpose-built facility focused entirely on musculoskeletal care,” said Patrick Magallanes, CEO of Steindler Orthopedics. “We’re proud to offer patients a better path forward—one that prioritizes their recovery, outcomes, and experience from start to finish – at a much lower cost than traditional hospital-based procedures.”
Steindler Orthopedic recently celebrated its 75th anniversary and opened its new clinic at 2301 Steindler Way in March. The facility houses its orthopedic clinic and surgery center.
