Veridian Credit Union will award $50,000 to five nonprofit organizations as part of its Giving Tuesday initiative, with the public invited to submit nominations through Nov. 9.
The credit union will randomly select one nonprofit from each of its five market areas to receive $10,000. The markets include Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids/Iowa City, Des Moines, Omaha/Council Bluffs and the Twin Cities. Winners will be drawn Nov. 10 and announced Dec. 2.
“Veridian was founded on the need to support our communities and the people in them,” said Renee Christoffer, Veridian president and CEO. “We celebrate Giving Tuesday because it’s an opportunity for us to encourage and inspire each other to strengthen the communities we share.”
Eligible organizations must address at least one of Veridian’s five funding priorities: affordable housing, basic human needs, inclusion, employment readiness or financial literacy. Each organization receives one entry regardless of how many nominations it receives. Details are available at veridiancu.org/givingtuesday.
Founded in 1934 in Waterloo, Veridian Credit Union operates 32 branches across Iowa, eastern Nebraska and the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area.
